What is MoocPlayer

MoocPlayer is a publisher independent video player that has been designed for optimised video training course viewing and note taking.

Import course

There are multiple ways to import video trainings/courses into MoocPlayer:

  • - Import a single course
  • - Bulk import to import multiple courses at once
  • - YouTube import to import a YouTube playlist as a course into MoocPlayer

Import a single course

  • Step 1. - Click on the Import course button on the toolbar.
  • Step 2. - Select the course folder you want to import and then click the Open button.
  • Step 3. - Edit course properties as you want and click on Import or Import and play button.
  • Step 4. - After the selected course was successfully imported you can decide among various options as displaying the course catalog with Show course list or import a new course with Import new course or start playing the course by clicking on the Play button.




Bulk import

Using bulk import you can import multiple video courses at once. To do this simply follow the steps below:

  • Step 1. - Click on the Bulk import button on the toolbar.
  • Step 2. - Select the course folder you want to import and then click the Open button.
  • Step 3. - After selecting a folder a new dialog will appear and all available courses are listed. You can select the courses ony by one and import only the selected courses or you can import all new courses that are not cataloged until now.
  • Step 4. - After the bulk import process a dialog will inform you how many courses were imported into MoocPlayer.




YouTube import

Using the YouTube import option you can add a YouTube playlist as a course to the MoocPlayer course catalog.

  • Step 1. - Click on the Import YouTube playlist button on the toolbar.
  • Step 2. - Insert the YouTube playlist URL into the input field and then click the Open button.
  • Step 3. - Edit course properties as you want and click on Import or Import and play button.

Course catalog

To access the already imported courses simply click on the My courses button on the Toolbar. The course catalog contains all of the imported courses with important information such as length, progress, number of notes, when was it played last time and so on. You can filter the course list be searching for a term in the course title or filter courses by selecting a label. By selecting a course the course chapters and videos will be displayed paralell with some other course meta data.

Play a course

The main task of MoocPlayer is playing the course video files and allow to take notes. You can select the course from the course catalog to play. The main GUI has 3 main area:
- On the left side you can see the organized structure of the complete course
- On the right side you can see the notes you made until now in this course
- On the bottom side of MoocPlayer there is the video and the note taking control panel

Take notes

Any time you want to take a note simply start typing in the big note field under video control buttons. Pressing any key will automatically stops the video playback so you don't have to worry to miss something out. Pressing Enter automatically saves the note with a screenshot and the video continues automatically. You can also group your notes by saving it a a special note type. You can do this by clicking on any of the buttons on the right of the note field.

You can highlight a part of your note by surrounding with double # as you can see here:

The highlighted text will be displayed in the note list as:

Export notes

Simply click on the Export button under the note list and all of your notes will be exported as a nicely organised html web page.
